Privacy notice
How this website handles information about visitors. In short: no cookies, no tracking, and basic server logs that are deleted automatically after 13 months.
Who we are
This website is run by the ISC2 East of England Chapter, a volunteer-led chapter of ISC2. For any privacy question or request, email info@isc2chapter-eastofengland.co.uk.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set cookies. It does not use analytics, advertising or social media tracking scripts, and it does not load content from third-party services.
Server access logs
Like most websites, our hosting service records basic technical information each time a page or file is requested:
- Your IP address
- The date and time of the request
- The page or file requested and whether it was delivered successfully
- Your browser and device type (the "user agent")
- The page that linked to ours (the "referrer"), if your browser sends it
We use this information to keep the website secure (for example, to spot and block attacks) and to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit and which pages are useful. We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not combine it with other information. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests.
Retention: logs are deleted automatically 13 months after they are created.
Where the information is held
The website is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and delivered through Amazon CloudFront. Access logs are stored in a private, encrypted storage bucket in AWS's US East (N. Virginia) region, which only the chapter’s website administrators can access. AWS processes this data for us under its data processing terms, which include safeguards for international transfers of personal data from the UK.
Emails and our mailing list
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to deal with your enquiry. If you join our mailing list, your details are held by Mailchimp; you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
Links to other websites
Our pages link to other services, including the ISC2 chapter portal, Eventbrite, LinkedIn and Mailchimp. When you follow those links, their own privacy policies apply.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to object to how we use it. To make a request, email info@isc2chapter-eastofengland.co.uk. Because logs only record IP addresses, we may need your IP address and the approximate date and time of your visit to find any relevant entries.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
